11/2016 overcharged on oil change and quote on new tires

Nathan, I looked at your history at our shop and your right it looks like we made an honest mistake and we had not done the same oil change as you had done in the past with us in the past. I have been going to Stein for over 15 years and dealing with Ned and his team. Mechanics are thoroughly trained in all makes of cars not just imports. As a reliability engineer, I believe strongly in the value of preventive maintenance and Stein has kept our cars, including an F-150, in top shape. There are some preventive maintenance items such as changing brake fluid that most people won't do and end up with costly repairs that could have been avoided. Ned is very skilled in determining maintenance plans appropriate for your car and the cost is fair. Much more convenient that the dealer and I don't feel pressured ever to purchase services I don't need. Anytime we have had a repair, the issue is diagnosed properly and fixed correctly the first time. In one recent instance, our battery was draining overnight but the battery checked OK. Top mechanic David diagnosed a faulty relay in a matter of minutes and the repair was done quickly. Other shops might have taken longer to find the problem. 100% honest, rides provided to and from the shop, a very clean waiting area and COFFEE. What more could you ask for.

This place is incredibly overpriced and they don't even know what they're doing. I took my car there to get it looked at 3 different times and they claim nothing is wrong with it yet it won't start. They don't know how to fix cars and they charge way to much. This place is absolutely ridiculous

I would love to talk about your situation because that is not how we operate at Springdale. I find it very unlikely we would tell you "Nothing is wrong with your vehicle" while it won't even start... Charged almost 330$ for labor and it was there for one day??????????? Parts were less than 200. Would not go back again.

We brought in a used Jetta complaining of it not shifting gears correctly. They said we needed a tune up and a bunch of other things and ended up spending nearly $1600.00. Well less than a month later the real problem reared it's ugly head. The transmission is dying. We had to bring it to a specialist and they requested to see the work we had done from Springdale. We sent it to them and they told us other than the tune up we didn't really need anything they did to fix the vehicle and they didn't even touch the real problem which was the transmission. They also told us that they would have only charged $400 for what they did and even at other shops $600 max. I am bummed they didn't catch what was really wrong AND over charged us big time. If we would have got a second opinion we might have found that out. Just beware what they are telling you about price. I don't know anything about cars so I believed that would totally fix it. I even asked them if it was going to be good after that and they said "yes". We could have spent that money on a new transmission.
